Dear Little Flower Staff, Students, and Parents,

I am thrilled to introduce myself to you as the new principal of Little Flower School. As I unpack my boxes and begin to get settled in, I already feel the strong sense of pride held here for our talented students and our wonderful staff and parents. I appreciate the power of the supportive learning community that we form together. I am excited about our collective potential and I look forward to getting to know each one of you better.

So that you might know me better, let me share a bit about myself. Students are often interested by the fact that I am one of eleven children and that I have eight brothers. I grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and I went to St. Camillus School, Immaculata Preparatory School, and the Catholic University of America. I completed my studies at Johns Hopkins University. Now I live in Darnestown, Maryland with my husband, Rick Mead. We have two children, two grandchildren, and a dog named Chumly. In my free time I like to cook, to host parties, to walk with Chumly, and to watch football. Often, you can also find me at Bethany Beach.

Before coming to Little Flower, I worked for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). I taught second, fifth, sixth, and seventh grades. I coached soccer and directed musicals. After serving as the assistant principal at several different schools, I became the principal of S. Christa McAuliffe Elementary in Germantown, Maryland and I am very proud of the work that we did together there. Next, I served in two different central office administrative positions. In the first position, I trained aspiring principals and coached first year principals. In the second position, I supervised 17 different elementary schools. Before working for MCPS, I also taught fifth grade at Holy Redeemer School in College Park, Maryland. I feel blessed that now God has called me to serve as our school’s principal.

I hope that you are all enjoying some summer fun and relaxation. If you are traveling, I would love it if you would send me a post card to the school’s address at Little Flower School, 5601 Massachusetts Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20816 or pictures to my email address – lfavret@lfschool.org . I intend to include them all in a fun, bulletin board display highlighting our travels.

I am anxious to meet everyone and to begin our journey together. I look forward to collaborating with you and with Msgr. Vaghi to plan our exciting future and to learn more about our tradition of excellence. I will be in the school’s office for the majority of the summer, so please do not hesitate to send me an email or to call me if you would like to arrange a time to meet.

God Bless,

Ms. Loretta Favret
