Dispensation from the Sunday and Holy Day obligation remains in effect. Many options are available for participating in Mass when we cannot be present at the liturgy. View the Archdiocese of Washington list of live-streamed (and recorded) Masses and Prayers.
PASTORAL REFLECTION Deacon Jim Shanahan
As our Church community emerges from the long dark night of the pandemic, I hope and pray that we reach out to those outside the church and to those who have left the church. As Pope Francis urges us in his first Apostolic Exhortation, "The Joy of the Gospel," invite these family members, neighbors and work colleagues "at this very moment, to a renewed encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them" (Evangelii Gaudium 2).
Please welcome our summer seminarian who will be arriving at Little Flower on June 1.
My name is Peter Mlynarczyk. I am a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Washington, and I just finished my third year of theology at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD. I am entering my seventh and final year of seminary formation and will be ordained a deacon on June 19th this summer. I am from Germantown, MD and am the fourth of five kids. My home parish is St. John Neumann in Gaithersburg, MD. I have a devotion to St. Thérèse and two summers ago I spent a few days visiting her hometown Lisieux after having served at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in France.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER
Poor Box – Donations during June will be for the Little Sisters of the Poor, who serve in 30 countries. The Order was founded in 1839 by St. Jeanne Jugan. Locally, they provide for the daily needs of the elderly poor men and women in their care -- safe-shelter, a comfortable and loving home, clothing, nutritious food, enriching activities and medical and nursing care. Saints as Model Stewards – May the saints whose lives we commemorate next week inspire us to use our own God-given talents and opportunities as He would have us do. We pray for their intercession for our special needs. Tuesday - Sts. Marcellinus and Peter (died 303), who were martyred for their evangelization efforts. May these saints intercede to give us the knowledge, courage and tact to make us effective evangelizers. "If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?" (Anonymous) Wednesday - St. Charles Lwanga and 21 of his companions, who were martyred in 1886 in what is now southern Uganda. For catechizing and resisting the king's orders that Christians abandon their faith, he and his companions were burned alive. Friday - St. Boniface (d. 754), who was born in England but is revered as the apostle to Germany, where he established many Benedictine monasteries and where he was martyred. Saturday - St. Norbert (d. 1134), who was born into a noble French family but, after experiencing a personal conversion, gave away all his possessions, became a monk, founded a religious order (the Premonstratensians!) and helped reform the Church, knowing that all true reformation must begin in the hearts of individual believers. June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Daily Prayer: Sacred Heart of Jesus, today I wish to live in You, in Your grace, in which I desire at all costs to persevere. Keep me from sin and strengthen my will by helping me to keep watch over my senses, my imagination, and my heart. Help me to correct my faults which are the source of sin. This I beg of you, Lord Jesus
