Jesus asked us all to slay our massive egos because only a selfless person can meet the demands summarized in the supreme commandment of love of God and neighbor in justice.
RESUMPTION OF PUBLIC MASS
The Church of the Little Flower is open for Sunday and weekday Masses.
The seriousness of this pandemic, however, dictates that we follow strict guidelines and important safety measures. Please carefully read the guidelines HERE.
Masks are required to be worn at all times when in church. Please arrive early as seating is first come, first served.
Dispensation from the Sunday and Holy Day obligation remains in effect. Many options are available for participating in Mass when we cannot be present at the liturgy. View the Archdiocese of Washington list of live-streamed (and recorded) Masses and Prayers.

![]() STEWARDSHIP CORNER Poor Box Donations – Through the end of 2020, Little Flower will be donating parishioner Poor Box contributions to Catholic student centers at three local universities. The centers' critical missions are to serve the spiritual needs of Catholic students in secular academic and living environments, most of whom are away from their Catholic families and parishes where they had spiritual support. Contributions during November and December will go to the George Washington University's Newman Catholic Center. Stewardship of our Faith – It behooves us to keep informed of developments in the Church, and in our archdiocese, in particular. Try logging on periodically to the archdiocesan website www.adw.org for information on education, the family, youth activities, social concerns and other events.
Saints as Model Stewards – May the saints whom we commemorate inspire us to employ our own God-given talents and opportunities as He would have us do. Monday - St. Margaret of Scotland (d. 1093), who married King Malcom III, and bore eight children – two of whom (David and Edith) are also saints! She urged the building of churches and monasteries and was very generous to the poor and needy. Also on Monday – St. Gertrude (d. 1302), a Cistercian sister and mystic who was devoted to the Incarnation and the Sacred Heart of Jesus – three centuries before the latter devotion was popularized by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. Tuesday – St. Elizabeth of Hungary (d. 1231), who at age 14 married a German prince, bore three children, and was widowed at 20. She then became a Third Order Franciscan, established a hospital and gave herself entirely to caring for the poor and hungry. Wednesday - St. Rose Philippine Duchesne (d. 1852) could be the inspiration for those who feel it's "too late" to get involved. As a child she dreamed of coming to America to work with Native Americans, but it wasn't until she was 49 that she actually came here as a member of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to start the society's first house in America. The Potawatomi people loved her and called her "Woman Who Prays Always." "You pay God a compliment by asking great things of Him." (St. Teresa of Avila, Doctor of the Church)
