| PASTORAL REFLECTION Sister Madonna Marie Lenikus, IHM The prophet, Isaiah, encourages and excites the people of God to "rise up in splendor" because "the glory of God shines upon us". As the long-awaited King and Savior manifests Himself, we "shall be radiant at what we see, and our hearts will throb and overflow". All creation shouts with joy and gratitude. | |

Saints as Model Stewards – May the saints we honor next week inspire us to use our own time and unique God-given talents as he would have us do. Tuesday – St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (d. 1821), American, wife, mother, convert to Catholicism and the founder of a religious order. She put her whole life – all her time, talents and treasure – at God's disposal. Wednesday – St. John Neumann (d. 1860), a Bavarian-born Redemptorist who became Bishop of Philadelphia. Through his zeal, passion for Catholic education, and organizational talents, in just over eight years Catholic grammar schools increased from two to over 100! Thursday – St. Andre Bessette - This doorman at the Notre Dame College in Quebec and, for forty years, handyman for the local community of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, proved by his life that by sanctifying whatever we do, we can attain sainthood. One million persons filed past his coffin when he died in 1937. Friday - St. Raymond of Penafort (d. 1275), a Spanish Dominican who, at the request of Pope Gregory IX, collected and organized church law into five volumes, which remained one of the most complete references on canon law, until the modern codification in 1917. He was also a persuasive preacher, evangelizer and confessor, including for the pope. Poor Box – As January marks the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, the parish traditionally sends its Poor Box donations to life-affirming crisis pregnancy centers with which individual parishioners have volunteered their services continuously for almost 30 years. This month's contributions will be donated to Centro Tepeyac and the Shady Grove Pregnancy Center. |

IMPORTANT REVISED GUIDELINES FOR MASS • Masks are required for all participants at indoor Masses and parish events by government edict in Montgomery County. It is ADW policy that masks are required for students, staff, and visitors in school buildings.
• The Sign of Peace may be offered by using a gesture, such as a bow or wave, but shaking hands should be avoided.
• At Holy Communion, the Archdiocese of Washington continues to discourage receiving the Host on the tongue, so those who normally do so, in consideration of the ministers and others, are respectfully asked to receive in the hand.
