ARRIVAL/MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE

Slowly enter onto the school property by the driveway closest to Westland School. Come straight forward to the orange cones, let the children out on the passenger side of the car and then continue to drive slowly down the hill, past the main entrance to the school and exit by way of the far right driveway leading back to Massachusetts Avenue.

ARRIVAL/KIRKWOOD

Slowly enter onto the parking lot, come straight forward to the orange cones, let the children out on the passenger side of the car and then continue slowly to exit by way of Kirkwood.

Parents wishing to park and walk their child to the quadrangle are asked to park in the spaces along the edge of the property facing Westland School. Parents are asked to escort their child along the edge of this area until you enter the safety zone where no cars may enter.

ARRIVAL/CHESTERBROOK

Drive slowly and carefully in front of the Church, turn right, come straightforward to the orange cones, let the children out on the passenger side of the car in the same area of the parking lot as the cars entering from Kirkwood, and then continue slowly to exit by way of Kirkwood.

Parents wishing to park and walk their child to the quadrangle are asked to park in the spaces along the edge of the property facing Westland School. Parents are asked to escort their child along the edge of this area until you enter the safety zone where no cars may enter.

CAR DISMISSAL

All drivers should enter the school grounds by way of Massachusetts Avenue and proceed to the upper parking lot, parking in the designated area for dismissal. All drivers are asked to park their cars facing the school and turn off all motors. Please do not use the spaces along the ravine.

Students will exit the building and stand together by class. Parents will escort children to parked cars quickly and carefully. Teachers will direct the exiting of the cars in an orderly manner. Cars are NOT to move until directed to do so.

When each row is given the signal to exit the school grounds, all cars must move. If your child has not yet come to the car, you must move with the line of cars. You may then pass in front of the Church and re-enter the school parking lot. All cars must exit the school grounds by way of Chesterbrook Road.

WALKER DISMISSAL

Mass Ave walkers are brought to the light at Massachusetts Ave./Little Falls Parkway and crossed under the supervision of a teacher.

Wood Acres walkers are brought to the stop sign at Kirkwood and Jordan Rd. and crossed under the supervision of a teacher.

Do not park in the fire lane in front of school and take your child out of walker line – even on rainy days. Call the school and we will send your child up to the regular car pickup. NO CAR SHOULD BE EXITING FROM OUR DRIVEWAY ON TO MASSACHUSETTS AVE. AT AFTERNOON DISMISSAL! This is especially important as the Westland dismissal is aligned with ours and dozens of busses are moving.

INCLEMENT WEATHER DISMISSAL

On days when the weather is severe either due to heavy rains, snow or icy conditions, the children who usually dismiss from school by car will remain in the building with their teacher. Parents will be asked to come up to the school building to pick up their children from the hallways in the Quad.

At all times, parents are asked to exercise grave caution and to proceed slowly when entering or departing the school parking lot so as to avoid accidents. As always, we ask for your cooperation. Your safety and that of your child are of the utmost importance to us. It is very important that you share this information with others who may be picking your child up from school.
